By the time the stars and planets aligned themselves perfectly in the universe to allow us to finally meet it was late January. So when Valentine's Day arrived three weeks later, it was a given that we'd do something to celebrate but it also had to be low-key enough to reflect the newness of the situation. The result has now become our Valentine's tradition: a sumptuous multi-course meal at home. Some memories from these meals echo louder than others. The first year I (Becky) made a meal themed around lemons, although the real winner of the night was a celery root puree that was out of this world. That year there was also a massive snowfall on Valentine's Day and we ate in front of the rip-roaringest fire in our fireplace. Last year, brought pomegranate seeds floating in our champagne, twinkling candlelight, and plans for a wedding.
This year the menu includes:
mushroom strudel over mixed greens
a cheese plate
roast chicken with sweet potato risotto and fresh cranberry sauce
vanilla roasted pears with yogurt
Share the love!
Happy Valentine's Day!
xx b&b
